Smart Waste Management

Smart Waste Management

Ongoing rapid urbanization is leading to an increasing amount of garbage. The volume of solid waste is expected to reach 2.2 billion tonnes yearly by 2025, according to The World Bank Report. “Uncollected waste and poorly disposed waste have significant health and environmental impacts. The cost of addressing these impacts is many times higher than the cost of developing and operating simple, adequate waste management systems.”, said Laura Tuck, Vice President for Sustainable Development, World Bank. Cities need smarter ways to manage trash.

MatchX offers Smart Waste Management as a solution. Thanks to #LPWAN and low-power consumption, ultrasonic sensors are able to send data for up to 10 years on a single battery. Trash bins with pre-installed sensors collect data on fullness levels, temperature, location, and movement information of the waste containers. This information will help to optimize the route for the fleet of garbage pickup trucks. Drivers will know exactly which trash bins are full and need to be collected. This approach leads to significant environmental improvements:

  • Decreasing fuel consumption,
  • Cut costs on maintenance,
  • Reducing carbon emissions,
  • Less traffic on roads

Also, Smart Waste Management improves street sanitation, keeps surroundings clean and green and free from bad odor of wastes, creating a higher quality of life for citizens. MatchX aims to unleash the genuine value of data to help cities transform the traditional collection process into more efficient and quality-oriented.
